Coach’s Comments
Welcome to March.  The end of another Season is near.  Good luck at your end of season events!  Our team break is coming up soon, check out the dates at the end of the newsletter.
We’ve had a good season with lots of new swimmers, some fast swimming, and new skills.  Next season each group will have some of the same and some new.  Stay tuned for group move up announcements!
Novice will have a return of Coach Cory and their same practice schedule as we’re at now.  Next season we’ll continue working on stroke technique and add some pace clock use and intervals.  We’ll also see the return of the mini meets at our outdoor pool with a BBQ once school is out this summer.
Age Groupers will have a return of Coach Jennifer and Coach Gina and their same practice schedule as now.  Next season we’ll continue working on our test sets, but look for them to be new and improved!  We’ll still have our weekend meets, mini meets and  get togethers.
High School and Senior Groups will continue working with Coach Gina and Coach Cory.  They also will have the same schedule next season.  We’ll see new and improved test sets, sport ambassador opportunities, a training trip, and Amazon practices.
Masters will continue working with Coach Gina and Coach Dan and will also have the same schedule in April.  We hope to see a large involvement in the Association meet in April, mark your calendars now for April 17-19 in Bend!  We are also looking forward to our annual lake swim and the other lake swim races around the state!  Stay tuned for more info on an adventure swim this summer, coached lake swim workouts and get togethers.  Amazon opens mid to late May!!!

Look for next seasons schedule to come out soon with an email, the bulletin board and an updated website.  This will happen over the break.  Remember to mark your calendars in advance so you don’t miss out on any of the meets and events!

Our Lap-a-thon had a good turnout of participation this year.  The numbers are still out as money is not yet all turned in.  Remember to have your donations turned in by Tue, March 17!    Thanks to all our raffle donations and Masters sponsors!  The Bradley’s and the Deines’ donated items for the raffle as well as GP Zone (Jim Wallace) our logo gear guy!  Thanks for making this a fun event!

Fundraising
Look for new fundraisers this year with sport cleanups at the U of O.  These take up to 2 hours and earn about the same amount of money as our football booth!  Yeah!  Easier!  It should also open up more age groups that can help.  Stay tuned for that to start this spring.

Wed, April 1.
Breaks are a good time to relax physically and mentally.  Taking a break often allows the mind and body to fully absorb the changes made to strokes and the improvements made through training.  A good idea to stay fit is to do other types of exercise during the break.  Hiking, biking, running, climbing, skating, staying active is always good for healthy and well being!
